What You Need to Know About Coronavirus

AltaMed washing hands

Due to the high demand for medical services, and to follow the recent government Stay Home orders, we are only evaluating patients for testing who are experiencing severe COVID-19 symptoms or who are considered high-risk according to Public Health guidelines.

COVID-19 symptoms

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever

People at High-Risk for COVID-19
A high-risk COVID-19 patient includes those who are over 65, are pregnant, have multiple chronic conditions like diabetes, or high blood pressure, and those who have a weakened immune system. We are following Public Health guidelines and only evaluating high-risk patients for testing as they are more likely to need higher levels of care. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and are at high risk, please call our Patient Service Center at  (562) 287-8887  to speak to our representation who can assist you.

People at Low-Risk for COVID-19
If you have mild symptoms of COVID-19, and are not high-risk, we ask you to stay home in accordance with Public Health recommendations. If you are not sure, or if you have any questions, please call the Patient Service Center at  (562) 287-8887 . It is important to call us before you come into a medical office or urgent care site.

For mild symptoms, we recommend the following:

Follow these guidelines until your symptoms go away and you have not taken any medication for 72 hours.

Care Options for Affiliated Partners Patients

If you have a scheduled appointment, or would like to see a doctor, call our Patient Service Center at  (562) 287-8887 so that we can assess your needs and offer you a telephone appointment or direct you to the best location for care. Whenever possible, we want to keep our patients out of waiting rooms to avoid unnecessary exposure to other sick patients.

  • If you’re sick and want to see a doctor, call us first!
  • If you already have an appointment scheduled, call us first!
  • If you want to schedule a health services appointment for a chronic condition, call us first!

You will not have to pay for costs related to COVID-19 testing or screening

Your ability to pay will not stop you from getting screened for COVID-19. This includes our patients who are undocumented. A new USCIS guideline indicates that such treatment or preventive services will not negatively affect any undocumented person as part of a future Public Charge review.

We can still see you for your regular health care needs.

Our doors are still open to see our patients for other health conditions which require ongoing care such as managing diabetes, high blood pressure, to name a few. We want to make sure all of our patients are taken care of and stay well. If you have a chronic condition, it is important to continue to receive the medical care you need.
